And for me it comes full circle....
I couldn't believe it today when I checked my profile that I've been a member here for nearly a year. But it makes sense - Jobsie keynoting MWSF 2006 was front page news when I joined.
Here's to another great MacWorld :)

Considering that we haven't had any substantial update since Leopard (as Snow Leopard was more an under the hood thing), which launched 4 years ago, the same year the original iPhone launched; the list of features that are being shown for Lion are downright underwhelming.
- The Mac App Store
This is not a part of the OS itself and I can use it right now. This is also hardly an innovation.
- Launchpad
This is just a slightly different take on the stacks concept, borrowing from the way it is handled in the iPad.
- Full-screen apps
Hmmm....ok...how is this a big deal again?
- Mission Control
Just a tweak on the present expose concept. I find it looks a bit cumbersome/clunky.
- Auto save
Hmmm....ok...how is this a big deal again?
- Versions
Hmmm....ok, useful.
- Resume
This one is good.
- Mail 5
Now with conversations, something Gmail has had for a long while already.
- AirDrop
Interesting but I think not all that different from using Bonjour to transfer files.
And...that's very much it...
Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of Apple as much as the next guy but this feature set is hardly impressive. I remember back when Apple released 10.4, I was actually excited about the new features and couldn't wait to update my computer. But now? I feel very much indifferent about Lion, don't see anything innovative or exciting at all, specially when one considers that the last update to include additional features as opposed to under the hood improvements (10.5) was released four years ago.

That is too bad, my latest electric bill is about the same as it's been all summer.
my power bill (which includes water and sewer) was $385 last month!
but i did finally get someone out to look at the a/c unit. i believe that is a big part of the problem. we'll see

It could have been worse. What if they streamed content from the other part of CES (i.e., XXX).
That would be bad...

Can't tell if it's real or fake but the meta data showing CS4 is a bit of an issue.
But I would love it if it was made from Aluminum.

This is what I hope:
A mac mini tower (basically a mini with more room for ram, 3.5" SATA slots, and better graphics) because I need one.
iPhone SDK
Ultra thin Macbook announcement
Something to do with the @TV and Blu-ray

I'm aware that these are fake, but I think this is what the next iPhones are going to look like - following the design of the iPad...
Hopefully there will be a 128GB model, I'd definitely be getting one of them =D

If you don't want the free publicity, then don't submit your app to the Mac App Store.
Of course, all the haters will cry foul.

Love your screen name! Reminds me of someone else here. :p
As for this article. I'm sure it's here so we can see whats going on in e industry. Looks to me, Androids free-for-all is about to end for the average user.
Of course, on the iPhone and Android devices, the people who want around the system will find a way.

for the things you mentioned you should replace the word 'envy' with 'jealously' :)
I've bought the first iPhone and have never gone back. I totally understand your situation lol, it comes with owning any luxury item. Usually its people who've never owned it themself that go bashing it. I personally haven't had as much encounters but I have friends who get harassed constantly lol.
The antennagate thing is the classic example of a non-user/owner reading some silly article and gripping it for every attack. None of my friends or myself use a case and we have absolutely no reception issues.
The funniest case was my friends colleague attacking him, saying it was the worse phone ever, most overpriced phone ever, its heavy! it has no flash! His Xperia X10 was miles better! Week later he buys his own iPhone 4 and stayed quiet about the topic. I rest my case.
On a positive note, I always get good encounters with the girls at work about iPhones lol.
Lol yeah I think jealousy is probably a better term.

I can go to View --> Organize Alphabetically on my SL MBA. Same result. All icons, no categories.
I've never seen this before, but it's not new to this Lion build.
I think arrange alphabetically was there in 10.0. It definitely was in 10.3, just checked :).

I hope windows gets rid of the dos command shell and don't have to rely on third party tools like cygwin. If W8 is unix based, it would be glorious.

http://www.macrumors.com/images/macrumorsthreadlogo.gif (http://www.macrumors.com)• Several sites continue to report (http://www.thinksecret.com/news/0609moviestudios.html) that only the Disney Studio is on-board for the initial launch of the iTunes Movie Store.
If it's just Disney, then there's not much point. The reason iTMS succeeded from the start was that it was simple and it had the largest library from which you could purchase single songs. If the iTunes Movie store starts with just Disney movies, then it's dead in the water. Let's just hope that ThinkSecret is wrong again, as usual.

I feel like apple could be attempting to spurn the rumors this time around by feeding a lot of different and false trails into the rumor mill. After the gizmodo incident and the press it got, they might be likely to try anything to keep their baby under wraps.

price drop = good, improved specs = good, but i think they could have done better. i see the ACD as a premium monitor so I think they should at least be comparable a similar dell (in terms of specs). If you're looking for a 30", then the ACD is now a very good deal ($1999 vs $2149 and the specs are a little better on the ACD). Personally, I'm looking into the 23/24" monitor (though I wouldn't mind the 30". Here's what I see:
Dell - 24", 0.270 mm, 450 cd/m, 1000:1, 16 ms, $879 (on sale right now for $747)
Apple - 23", 0.258 mm, 400 cd/m, 700:1, 14 ms, $999 ($899 through edu store)
The price drop and improved specs are good, but it's too bad that they don't match or exceed the dell monitors in all categories - maybe I'm just expecting too much. Oh well, a guy can dream right?
